The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added another experienced receiver to their roster, signing American receiver Shemar Bridges to a contract on Tuesday.

Bridges joins the Green and White with three seasons of CFL experience, having appeared in 33 games with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The Florida native signed with Hamilton in 2024 and quickly established himself as one of the club’s top offensive weapons. During his rookie season, Bridges recorded 83 receptions for 933 yards, averaging 11.2 yards per catch, while adding four touchdowns.

His impressive rookie campaign earned him recognition as the East Division’s Most Outstanding Rookie, along with a selection to the East Division All-CFL Team.

However, Bridges saw his production decline during the 2025 season. Despite appearing in all 18 regular-season games, he finished the year with 34 receptions for 361 yards and two touchdowns. The 28-year-old also appeared in the East Final, recording four receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown.

Prior to joining the Tiger-Cats, Bridges spent time with the Baltimore Ravens after signing with the NFL club as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He spent a portion of the season on Baltimore’s practice roster before returning to training camp with the Ravens in 2023.

Before beginning his professional career, Bridges played three seasons at Fort Valley State University from 2019 to 2021. In 16 career games with the program, he recorded 92 receptions for 1,358 yards and seven touchdowns.

Now heading to Saskatchewan, Bridges will look for a fresh start with the Roughriders and an opportunity to return to the form that made him one of the CFL’s top rookies during his first season in Hamilton.
