NHL training camps are officially underway, and it didn’t take long for things to get interesting around the league.
On The Analyst Desk, we break down some of the biggest stories surrounding training camp, including Connor Hellebuyck, Drake Batherson, Dylan Larkin, Adam Fantilli, Cutter Gauthier, Mat Barzal and Connor Bedard.
Things also get a little heated as we discuss some of the contracts being handed out around the NHL and what they could mean for teams moving forward.
With the salary cap continuing to change, teams have more money to work with, but that doesn’t necessarily mean every contract being signed is a good one. We also get into some of the bigger training camp situations around the league. From players not reporting and contract negotiations to injuries and changes in leadership, there’s already plenty happening before the regular season even begins.
How much should teams be willing to spend on their top players? Are some of these massive long-term contracts going to look completely different as the salary cap increases? And which training camp storylines could actually have an impact once the games start to count?
There’s plenty to debate.
