Tier 1 — Montreal, BC
Montreal Alouettes
Montreal really showed they are still the top dog with their huge win over a struggling Blue Bombers team. Montreal has now locked up first in the East, so let’s see if they finally start resting some of their starters down the stretch.
BC Lions
BC gets a huge win despite not scoring a single touchdown. The offence needs to be better, but wow, this defence is playing well. BC still has a chance to finish first in the West, but that seems unlikely. Their goal now should be finishing second and securing a home playoff game.
Tier 2 — Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto
Edmonton Elks
Edmonton was on the bye, but they haven’t felt like the same team we saw to start the year. They can’t seem to put up points like they used to, and the run game needs to become a bigger part of this offence again.
Calgary Stampeders
Calgary is finally playing like I thought they should. The defence looks better, and VA is playing lights out. This could be a scary team coming down the stretch.
Toronto Argonauts
Despite not having Chad Kelly, Toronto put up a good fight against BC. Considering Nick Arbuckle had not started in over a year, he played pretty well. With the loss, the Argos can’t move up in the standings, so let’s see if more backups get playing time down the stretch.
Tier 3 — Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, Hamilton
Saskatchewan Roughriders
I am very concerned about the Riders. They are banged up, and it’s really showing. They need to find more ways to put up points, and their defence needs to start getting stops ASAP.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
If Winnipeg doesn’t have Zach Collaros, they can’t seem to move the ball. TBH, I feel like they are in a lot of trouble right now. I would be very worried if I were a Bombers fan. If they don’t start winning, they are not going to make the playoffs.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Not bad at all from Hamilton. Frost played his best game of the season, and Lawler also had his best game. Funny how that works! Let’s see if they can build on this as they look toward next season.
Tier 4 — Ottawa
Ottawa REDBLACKS
Ottawa remains in a tier of its own at the bottom. At this point, it’s about finishing the season, evaluating what they have and figuring out what needs to change heading into next year.
