CFL Fans Take on 65KM Walk to Fight Cancer
People drive from Hamilton to Toronto and Toronto to Hamilton daily, whether it’s for work or pleasure. We all complain about the drive, but now try doing the entire thing on foot. CFL Fans Fight Cancer is back for another year in 2026.
That’s exactly what a group of CFL fans will be doing this weekend, walking 65KM from Toronto to Hamilton while raising money for CFL Fans Fight Cancer and the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
The #LD65KM walk is back for another year, and after raising around $6,000 in each of the last two years, the group is hoping to top that number this time around for their 20th anniversary season and hit the 20-year mark with a bang!
CFL Fans Fight Cancer Celebrates 20 Years
If you don’t know much about CFL Fans Fight Cancer, the movement started in 2006. The grassroots initiative was started by CFL fans during Ron Lancaster’s cancer diagnosis, and this season they’re celebrating 20 years.
Over the last two years alone, CFL fans from across the league have raised more than $75,000 each year, with walks happening all across the country. And I think that’s pretty damn cool.
Fans from different teams have put together golf tournaments, bowling tournaments, fantasy football leagues, tailgates, watch parties and plenty of other events to raise money.
It all eventually leads up to the annual Grey Cup Saturday fundraiser and auction in the host city. But this year they want to go even bigger.
The goal is to break $100,000.
The 65KM Walk Is Back
One of the events helping them try to reach that goal is the #LD65KM walk from Toronto to Hamilton.
Dallas Bergen, alongside Connor RJ Sauve, Catherine Fulton, Nick Small and other CFL fans across the GTHA, will be making the full walk again this year.
There will be other people joining them for parts of the walk, while some CFL fans are also planning to walk in their own communities to show their support.
The walk will start this Friday at BMO Field in Toronto and finish in Hamilton on Monday before the Labour Day Classic, with the group making its way to the tailgate lots outside Tim Hortons Field.

It’s Bigger Than Football
We all love to argue about football. But let’s be honest, a lot of fan bases do NOT like each other whatsoever.
Argos fans don’t like Ticats fans. Riders fans don’t like Blue Bombers fans, and then there’s the Battle of Alberta, one of the richest rivalries in Canadian sports.
Yet, they can all come together to fight for a good cause.
That’s part of being a sports fan and a true Canadian.
100% of every online donation goes directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, and donation receipts are issued by the foundation. Who doesn’t love a tax break!
The goal this year is to raise $100,000 through the CFL Fans Fight Cancer movement.
How Can You Help?
If you are looking to donate, there are two simple ways.
You can donate online directly through the Alberta Cancer Foundation:

Or, if you happen to see them during the walk, they’ll be carrying a donation bucket along the route, so you can donate in person!
You can also follow the walk through CFL Fans in Toronto on X using #LD65KM and #CFLFFC.
No matter who you cheer for, I think we can all agree on this one.
Let’s stick it to cancer.
